A Trip to the Fairytale Forest in Bílina

Activity implemented as part of the “Preschool Education (OP JAK) for Roma” project
On August 25, 2026, the Czechoslovak Roma Union (ČSRU) organized a community outing for volunteers and families from the Mojžíř locality. The goal was to offer both children and adults a day spent together away from the housing estate, to encourage preschool-aged children to explore a new environment, and to recognize individuals who have long been involved in community activities.
Basic Information
The event was organized by the Czechoslovak Roma Union (ČSRU). Titled “Community Outing for Volunteers and Families from Mojžíř,” it took place on August 25, 2026, at the “Fairy-Tale Forest” (Pohádkový les) complex in Bílina. The target group consisted of ČSRU volunteers and parents and children from the Mojžíř community.
Participation
A total of 25 people participated in the outing: 8 adults (volunteers and accompanying persons) and 17 children.
Event Proceedings
Participants gathered in Mojžíř at 9:00 AM and traveled together to the main railway station in Ústí nad Labem. The morning included a train journey to Bílina, followed by a walk to the Fairy-Tale Forest complex.
The main program featured a tour of the Fairy-Tale Forest, which displays carved figures from fairy tales. This was followed by outdoor leisure and physical activities, group games for the children, and time for informal conversation and sharing among the adult volunteers. For the youngest children, the walk through the forest also served as a natural opportunity to develop their vocabulary, spatial awareness, and ability to cooperate within a group.
The program in Bílina concluded at 4:00 PM; the group returned by train to the main railway station in Ústí nad Labem and then traveled back to Mojžíř.
Evaluation
The event proceeded according to the planned schedule, without any incidents or complications. It achieved its objectives of encouraging children to spend their free time meaningfully, strengthening intergenerational relationships, and recognizing active community volunteers.
Feedback from both children and adults was very positive; the trip was considered a great success and a source of motivation for future community collaboration.
This activity is implemented as part of the “Preschool Education for Roma” project, funded by the European Union through the Jan Amos Komenský Operational Programme (OP JAK).
