Our member and volunteer has shone – and we are proud of him!

It is a moment when the heart beats with pride and the eyes sparkle with joy. One of us, our active member
and dedicated volunteer Marian Dancso, has become the laureate of the prestigious Roma Spirit Award for
Person of the Year! This award is not only his personal achievement – ​​it is a victory for our entire
community and proof that dedication, hard work and a sincere desire to help others never go unnoticed.

Who is Marian Dancso?

Marian is a person who has been working at the elementary school in the Janov housing estate in Litvínov for more than 20 years. Rom
teaches Roma from the ghetto. He tries to instill in them that every obstacle in life can be overcome. Regardless of their origin. Let his story be proof.
Marian is the type of person who does not do things for fame, but because he sees meaning in them. Because
he believes that each of us has the power to change a piece of the world around us for the better. And it is this authenticity,
humility and tireless commitment that make him a true inspiration for all of us.

Roma Spirit Award – an award with a soul

The Roma Spirit Award is a prestigious award that annually highlights exceptional personalities of the Roma
community – people who, through their work, activism, art or humanitarian activities, contribute to
positive changes in society and break down prejudices.
Winning the title of Personality of the Year is not just an honor – it is a commitment. A commitment to continue the work that
Marian does every day. A commitment to be a role model for others. A commitment to showing that Roma Spirit –
the Roma spirit – is about pride, strength, cohesion and an endless desire to do good.

What does Marian mean to us?

At the Czechoslovak Roma Union, we greatly appreciate every member and every volunteer who
shares our mission with us. But Marian is one of those who leads by example. His energy is contagious, his optimism unwavering, and his heart open to anyone who needs help. Whether he is organizing educational activities for children, helping seniors, participating in clean-up events, or simply listening to those in need – Marian is always there when he is needed. And that is exactly the kind of personality that deserves the highest recognition.
