Support for Roma children and families, especially in the areas of education, tutoring and community work

Today, together with Romani leaders Vojta Demeter from ROMA Spolek HK and Karel Karika from the “Czechoslovak Romani Union”, we met with Pavlína Springerová – the mayor of Hradec Králové and her deputy Pavel Vrbický.

The main topic was the support of Romani children and families, especially in the areas of education, tutoring and community work.

Local leaders are key not only for working with children and parents, but also for communicating with the community in case of tense or conflict situations, as was recently shown in Hradec Králové. We also discussed this with a representative of the Police of the Czech Republic. Only open communication can help to break down possible distrust on both sides.
