Supporting the social inclusion of Roma
Supporting the social inclusion of Roma through community development and entrepreneurship is a long-term and complex process that requires not only targeted educational programs and systematic work with the community, but also the active involvement of individuals who are willing to take responsibility for the development of their surroundings. Within such focused efforts, the work of community leaders plays a key role, who inspire others by their example and set in motion positive changes that have an impact on the quality of life not only of the Roma themselves, but also of the entire wider society.
It was in the Mojžíř area that we witnessed concrete results and successes that arose thanks to the involvement of our graduates (“Supporting the Social Inclusion of Roma through Community Development and Entrepreneurship”), including Karel Bača, Irena Dunová and Luboš Polák. These graduates went through a specialized educational program of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs focused on the development and support of community leadership, during which they acquired not only theoretical knowledge, but also practical skills, which they subsequently used in the preparation and implementation of their own projects in their place of residence.
Irena Dunová decided to focus her energy on the youngest members of the community and with great commitment prepared a children’s day that brought joy, laughter and a sense of belonging to dozens of children and their parents. This day was not only about fun – through games, competitions and joint activities, the children learned cooperation, consideration and at the same time gained space to establish new friendships. The event was met with extremely positive responses among parents and other community members, who appreciated not only the program itself, but also the care that Irena took in preparing every detail. Karel Bača became the initiator of an original event called “Mojžíř has talent”, which offered residents the opportunity to present their skills, talents and creativity in front of an audience consisting of their neighbors, acquaintances and friends. This event created a completely unique space for strengthening the self-confidence of the participants, supporting talented individuals and at the same time deepening mutual relations between residents. People overcame their shyness, supported each other and shared the joy of the success of those who dared to speak out in front of others. Karel thus made a significant contribution to building a cohesive, open and self-confident community with his project.
Luboš Polák devoted his energy to organizing a competition day for the local community, where he planned a number of team and individual disciplines. The aim of this event was not only to offer fun and meaningful leisure time, but also to strengthen team spirit, mutual trust and the feeling that everyone has their place in the community. The competition day became not only a sporting event, but also an opportunity to make new contacts, share experiences and jointly build a better climate in the place where people live.
All of these projects were carefully prepared, well-thought-out and focused on the real needs of local residents. They successfully completed the educational program of our graduates, who thus demonstrated that they are able to independently lead projects with a real impact on the life of the community. The feedback and reactions of the participants of the individual events clearly show that these initiatives brought not only joy, but also practical benefits, and strengthened the belief in the possibility of change for the better.
With deep gratitude, I would like to thank Karel Bač, Irena Dunová and Luboš Polák for their selfless commitment, dedicated work and willingness to devote their time, energy and skills to the development of the community in Mojžíř. Their successes are an inspiration not only for other community leaders, but for all who believe in the power of cooperation, civic engagement and mutual support. I wish them continued success, joy and fulfillment on their journey in community work. Mojžíř can be proud of the active and responsible citizens it has in its ranks, who show with their approach that change is possible if we are willing to create it together.
